the week was starting out great -- the house was beautiful, the weather was warm, the food {which there was no shortage of this week!} was delicious.
and then i got a text from reed sunday afternoon: "molly is in heat"
i was laughing hysterically!! i know this isn't something a guy should have to deal with, but y'all, it. was. funny.
side note: my all-too-inquisitive, 8-year-old niece started asking what it meant for molly to be "in heat". her mom told her it meant she could start having puppies and mia immediately went into wedding planner mode. she was picturing molly in a wedding dress, buddy {her chocolate lab} in a tux, the ceremony & the puppies to come after.
the sweet love-of-my-life handled his little girl "growing up" quite well. he took good care of her the rest of the week and made sure no boys got too close!
needless to say, at 9 months old, molly got spayed this morning. we went through the alabama animal adoption society and got a great deal on the spaying. they give you a certificate you can take to a list of participating vets -- we were especially thrilled when we found out our regular vet was on the list!
reed is picking her up right now and should be home any minute. the doc said no walking, jumping, stairs or running for 2 weeks. this is going to be really tough for molly. i guess the jumping and near back flips she does when it's time to eat are out, too. speaking of food, the worst part of this whole ordeal for molly is probably that should couldn't eat breakfast this morning.
hopefully, my sweet little girl will be back to her lively self soon!
